Our country is experiencing an unprecedented crisis as coronavirus continues to affect our health and economy. Veterans are in a particularly vulnerable situation as the Department of Veterans Affairs adapts to fulfill its “fourth mission” to provide care to the civilian population in emergencies such as the one we are currently facing.
To ensure veterans have access to care and the VA is fully utilizing its resources, CVA has offered recommendations
to the president, Congress, and the VA secretary that include providing:
- Expedited payments to local health care providers
- Regulatory relief for suppliers and vendors
- Maximum flexibility for veterans to access care close to home
These are uncertain times, but leadership in Washington can take steps to safeguard needed services for veterans.
